Today we start a new web site feature, Gary's Diary.

Trail Chairman Gary Fowler will regularly produce a dairy of Trail related events.

Here's his first dairy for the week ending Saturday, September 20.

Monday, September 15:
Met Fred Crawford on site for discussions.
Ron  Cogswell and his survey team are talking with our lawyer Tim Hart regarding trail easements.

Tuesday, September 16:
Alan Hitchens and I met with Gas Service Station owners Jeff and Sam Dumpleton to discuss their generous donation of $1000 to the Trail project.

Alan Hitchens and I walk part of the Trail with Waikato Regional Council representative Brendon Hewett for Trail inspection.

Wednesday, September 17:
Talked to Storm Contractors and Project Manager John Gaukrodger regarding work schedules.

Thursday, September 18:
Fred, Colin and I, with the aid of Storm's small digger, placed the piles for the first two bridges  on the formed section of Trail. The plies were then concreted in place. Fortunately, work was completed before it rained.

Friday, September 19:
Rained! We are waiting for the rest of the bridge building timber to arrive, hopefully next week. This should enable us to start on the four small bridges required on the already formed section of the Trail.

Saturday, September 20:
Walked the length of the Trail and marked all the trees to be felled by Rayonier to enable work to start on the next stage of the project.
